Hey, got a question for you. Has God prompted you to reach out and encourage someone recently? You know, that little question that pops into your head and sounds something like, “Hmmm, I wonder how so and so is doing. I haven’t talked to them in a while.” Or maybe you think of a person you haven’t seen at church recently. Maybe you are that person, but you’re thinking, “Hmmm, I wonder how things are going over there at LifeBridge. I haven’t been there in a while.”
I call those promptings; Holy Spirit promptings. That is how God prompts His people to carry out His will. It is amazing to me how often I get a prompting. Often, I fail to follow through on it. I think about that person for a few seconds, then poof, I forget all about them. Or I reason with myself that they are probably just fine and that reaching out to them may seem awkward because I haven’t talked to them in a while. Or I simply procrastinate and think I’ll reach out to them some time – but not right now. Or we even think, “Hmmm, someone should really reach out to them – someone else.” Well, you and I ARE someone. Someone God wants to use to share His love with the people in our lives.
I don’t know about you, but I always appreciate when someone reaches out to me to simply let me know they have been thinking about me. I always appreciate someone taking just a moment to encourage me and let me know I am loved and appreciated. You never know how powerful a simple reach may be for someone needing just a little love.
So here’s the challenge: Who has God laid on your heart recently? Who have you not seen at church in a while? Ask God who might just need a word of encouragement. What if each person who attends LifeBridge were to make it a goal to reach out to 2 people a week? If 400 people sent one text, made one phone call, stopped in to check on one neighbor, sent a message on Facebook…what could happen?
I reached out to someone last week…who was struggling. It led to a string of Facebook messages that reminded this person of the love of Christ and His desire for them to be connected to other believers who could breathe life into their faith. They were at church last Sunday and gave me a huge hug and a big thank you. It was so refreshing for me! This is how we, the people of God, become a life-giving spring of water to people who may be weary and thirsty. I know we are half way through the week, but will you reach out today? Listen for the prompting – then act on it. We are a family, not an institution. Let’s love one another well.
Take a look below to see some of the life-giving things happening at LifeBridge:
Battle Armor Message Series: Get ready for the battles of life – God’s way! Join us this Sunday as we continue our study of Ephesians 6:10-19 and “take up” the next three pieces of God’s armor. Click here if you have missed a past message and want to catch up. See you Sunday?
Eight O’ Clock Encounter: As a church, our very first meeting was prayer. Every week we gather to make prayer a priority as we seek God’s power and His presence among us. No one has to pray out loud and people are free to stay as long as they like. This is a powerful time for us as individuals and as a church body. I hope you will give it a try if you have not already. Saturdays, 8am at the church.
Summer Baptism: We are always excited about baptism because it signals lives among us, transformed by the grace and mercy of God. If you are a follower of Jesus and you have never been baptized, what are you waiting for? Click here for more information about baptism or reply to this e-mail to start a conversation with one of our pastors. For everyone else, join us Sunday 28th from 4-7pm as we celebrate baptisms, share a potluck meal together, and enjoy playing, laughing and talking together. This year we will be at Lake Arvesta again. I hope you will join us.
Bridge Kids: Welcome Becky – our new Bridge Kids Ministry Director. Last Sunday we introduced her, now this Sunday, July 21, we invite you to join us for a meet and greet from 2:00-4:00pm in The Landing (Bridge Kids area). We will have light refreshments and you are free to bring a “welcome!” card or small gift, but surely no obligation to do so. Please keep Becky in your prayers as this first few weeks of onboarding are sure to be a lot of work and pretty crazy.
NEXT Class: We always say, LifeBridge is not a Sunday morning show. It is a gowing movement, a community of people dedicated to Jesus and His mission. So, what does that mean beyond the Sunday morning worship experiences? For four Sundays starting August 4th, we want to share our vision with you so you can get in on the action. Come and learn where we came from, where we are going and how you can get in on the action. We meet at the church after third service and will provide lunch. Let us know if you need childcare and we will try to help with that. Click here for an overview of the four classes. Please reply to this e-mail and let us know if you are interested in attending so we can make sure to keep you in the loop.
Case For Christ LifeGroup: Is there really a case for the person of Jesus and this whole Christianity thing, or is it just a club for “religious types”? The Case for Christ study is a 6-week DVD driven series showing Lee Strobel’s attempt (he was then an athiest) to determine if there is credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth is really God. Each lesson looks at Jesus’ divinity and urges readers to reach a verdict on their own. We’ll be meeting during 2nd service (10:00-11:40 am) in the new part of the building, starting Sunday July 28 and ending Sunday September 1. Click here for an overview.
Investing at LifeBridge: A wise investor will invest in stocks that are demonstrating a pattern of return. I believe LifeBridge is a wise investment because when I look around each week or see Lifers around town or even talk to others who have heard about LifeBridge, I hear and see all the ways that God is reaching people and changing lives. The lead line above says “Investing at LifeBridge” because I think we invest IN the Kingdom of God. I’m inviting you to do that AT LifeBridge. Maybe you have been crazy busy and have forgotten to make a contribution. Or maybe your credit card changed and your tithe is no longer being automatically deducted. You can change that right now. Click here to go to our giving page where you will find our super-easy online giving tool – and make an investment today.
Across our Bridges:
Worship On The Riverwalk: For the third year in a row, Hope Church is hosting a Christian Worship/Music series on the riverwalk down by the city marina. It’s a free worship concert that can be enjoyed by all. We see this as an opportunity for the body of Christ across all the churches to join and worship together. The experience begins at 7pm on Sundays the 14th, 21st and 28th of July. Check it out here.
Casco’s Ultimate Mud Challenge: This event has just been getting bigger and bigger. If you like action and/or a physical challenge, consider checking out the event hosted by local churches at Lake Arvesta on August 3rd. Their mission is to raise money to support ministries that support others. You can join as a participant in one of their mud challenges or you can be a volunteer to help run the event. Or maybe you just want to watch this year to decide how you might jump in next year. For all the info you need click here to go to their website.
